Spam typically refers to any of the following:
- SPAM - a brand of canned meat sold by Hormel
- Spam (Monty Python), a comedy sketch involving this meat, which in turn gave rise to the sense below.
- Spam (electronic) - unsolicited bulk electronic messages, such as e-mail spam.
- Repeated, undesired messages in IRC, MUDs and other Internet chats and games, meant to disrupt normal discussion.
- Pointless, subjectless posting on a bulletin board forum.
- SPAM is a backronym of the words: Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages, or, when forums are concerned: Several Posts A Minute.
- Street spam is illegal blanket advertising in public places
